Well on that note...
@ Brix, have you read the 'News From Me' thread yet?
SE REFUSING to let ANY network brand the w800i. It'll apparently have lovely generic firmware.
Hope these facts are true...
We all know that to get any network settings is a simple request from your chosen network and receiving all the settings via a few sms's, as I have done countless times in the UK and several times in SA with a wide range of phones, incuding unlocked 3G-capable 7600's.
Long live the w800i!!!

The only thing I hate about my phone is the unnecessary Vodacom images that can't be deleted. Contrary to what Tahir says I believe that consumers will have the choice of unbranded phones, it will cost slightly more because they would not be subsidised by a network. Long live freedom of choice, that's what's South Africa is about.

@Rhino: On 2nd thought there's 2 ringtones I can't delete. On branded phones don't think everyone will love them...so subscribers will get an option to buy an unbranded phone, maybe 5 months after it's release on a network...eg: V800=Z800

Is this guy crying about 2 - 3 voda pics that cant be deleted???!!!!
the ringtones are se ringtones so thats their way of keeping it on the phone...
everythings gonna be branded wether you like it or not....
eg; voda buys phones from the manufacturer, it goes to the warehouse, the are blank with no software, then voda and the respected reps will load the software on the phone individualy then wrap it up and sell it!!!!!! i know coz iv done it a couple of times...
so everything IS branded, vodafone however changes the firmware and relieves some features which is STUPID... in this case a branded phone is a bit of a waste...
but vodafone phones i think are are loaded at vodafone... thats why vodacom cant load voda live on an individual phone ie K700... but it is possible but i think at vodafone headquarters!!!!
mp3 is software and can easily be deleted or overwritten...

@786KBR: I think branded phones are inevitable but it all depends to which level it's implemented... You could go for the slight approach that the three networks have adopted or u could go for the Vodafone Live approach.
