hi guys,
im from the philippines, and i just bought my k700i yesterday.
i checkd my firmware and i think i have the latest version:
R2CA001
CXC 125 813 R3D (not R2C)
anyway, chancing upon the "multi-chars search" problem, i tested it and it failed on my phone. the screen turned white and flashed. so instinctively, i pressed the power button and it turned on fine. that's my account of the problem. as for the other recurring problems i havent tested them yet since i just got the fone and extremely pleased with it.
FYI:
my phone is MADE IN CHINA, but im confused cuz when i checked the available languages, they were european but since my region is asia-pacific i should have chinese/filipino as the choice of languages at least. Plus, the manual that came with my unit was in a european language.
for me, the problem isnt a big deal. the phonebook is still usable. let me know if you want me to test something. =)

For the filipino above most _everything_ is made in China these days, including the vast majority of cellphones - plastic injection moulding is big business in that part of asia - cheap workforce, good quality product. Same for circuit board production and the myriad of other items needed.
The million little cellphone resellers you see dotted across the country in small stalls mostly buy their stock from a handful of importers. Since the telecommunications legislation in this country is 'fairly lax', they can pretty much import whatever the hell they want.
The number one reason your phone has the european firmware is purely economic. The K700 while common in the Philippines (And a good phone by the way!), has been superseded by better models in Europe, thus the high number of units landing here. Excess stock that can't be sold is redistributed.
Changing your firmware to have tagalog as one of the languages is fairly painless, if not a little expensive. Should be free in my opinion. People selling logs must be rolling in joy at all the 'easy money' they make.
You could try the SE centre here in the Phils - should mod your firmware (somewhere in Makati) - may not be free, chances are you'll find the change will also include the annoying camera sound as a permanent addition.
Not sure if you have a DSS-25 - you can pick them up for about 800 peso ($15 US) - try greenhills - that's if you want to go the 'aftermarket' route.
I'm ambitious enough to code something together myself and release it free, I am suprised nobody else has already. See what the future holds for that I guess.
Ingat to you.

Yo !
I upgraded to a newer firmware (R2AY004), Man it really rocks, Bluetooth transfers have jumped to 39k under normal conditions.
No other Mobile supports that much speed, its awesome.
Didnt see any improvement in camera though it was upgraded to v3.10 from 3.9

I have not checked all the posts here, but I would like to know whether the latest firmware for K700i is available through SE update website or not.
I have used this phone to the maximum extent, like using for presentations through bluetooth, recording the conversations, internet through mobile as well as on my laptop.
Interesting thing is that, using my laptop's mic and speakers to talk to someone on the phone

It was really cool. But I could not do the same for audio files and FM.
Anyone who have tried this?

Hello, guys.
I'm having a SE K700i with R2CA001 version of software. The only problem is that I don't know how to enter in service menu or any other hidden menus.
It appears that the service menu has another combination of keys on this R2CA001 software or is completely disabled without having the special cable/cradle shit.
Anyway, is there a way to change the times for light dimming or to change the intensity of the LCD lights for power saving purposes? Of course...without changing the entire software because it seems that with this R2CA001 version a lot of K700i problems has been solved.
Thank you and regards,
Raoul.

I'm asking because i have read different things about the recent firmwares, some say not much has changed, some say it has.
I currently have R2AY004, is it worth upgrading to R2AC001, if so, what would I get that I currently don't have? or what bugs would be fixed? does the camera sound still go off in silent mode?

hi guys..
i have K700i with R2AA003 and presently out of warranty period.
and then... didnt have patience to go through all the 66 pages in this thread. (sorry for that

)
so... i wanted to know what cable suits K700i for SEUS. SE website mentions only the deskstand, which I feel is not an economical way.
what about DCU11/DCU10? or any other cable available for K700i... i know it not possible through BT.
which is the cheapest way? please let me know... and help me in upgrading to the latest one...
hey... also is there any threat that the data will get deleted after this process?

You must use a cradle, and no data will be lost during update. But you shall always backup your phone before updating the firmware just in case.
