Is the iphone good for the money you pay for it. The main reason I dont get one is I dont really want to have to have one of those data plans

You need to have a data plan 'cause casual data is just not enough. All the iPhone plans are good vaue for what you get, it's just the cost of the device on top bites. I was paying $130+ per month and now I'm paying $48 so it makes sense for me. Unless you're familiar with iPods/Macs then it's a steep learning curve. C905 would be better overall, but wouldn't allow me to reduce my costs and will probably cost $1300 when it arrives. N95 was high on my list as was X1, G705 and W980 but none come with the iPhone40 plan so iPhone it is.

@yea g: I noticed that! Its funny, it doesn't seem long since I posted up a picture for the 500th post. This thread has grown really fast in the last few months!

@carkitter: That's a really nice shot (apart from the Samsung hahahaha). I really don't like iTunes for transferring media too, but its something you gotta live with. It really is great as a jukebox though. I hook my laptop up to some speakers and it serves as a pretty decent stereo! It sounds like you've made quite a saving (in the long run) with the iPhone which is great. I hope it's shortcomings aren't too irritating for you!

@amawanqa: Welcome mate! Take a seat by the warm fire, relax and make yourself at home! How's South Africa/England/Wherever you're situated at the moment?

Thanks, Mo.
I remember when brix25 and I first posted on this forum (third post on this thread, with my old esato username), and it's great to see how this regional thread that you started has developed, thanks in particular to a handful of dedicated Kiwi esatonians. The first post of your thread looks damn professional! Good stuff.

Yeah I pretty much work and live in England, but the roots n' sentiments are still very much in my native SA. The better half and I try and make an annual trip back to The Land of the Saffers, but from a work-related viewpoint, the Poms have been very,very good to me. Oh well, would be nice to have the best of both worlds, but such is life...
Looks like you guys are on the brink of reaching the 1000-post landmark pretty soon..

The iPhone updated automatically; Mr Jobs is on top of it...
Does Safari remember passwords and have a keyboard shortcut to enter them?

@amawanqa
Welcome, it's great to have you here as we approach a landmark!
