... a lot of overexposure that he noticed in the new firmware. It seems that you have the same, which you can notice on the white parts of the picture.

Well in this particular picture, its just the bright sunlight causing overexposed areas. Won't blaim camera for that as the whole picture doesn't exhibit overexposure.

[EDIT] The second picture is not taken in that bright sunlight (am I right?). Notice that the dog doesn't have that well defined shadow in second as compared to first. Therefore because of more suitable light conditions, the white walls are not overexposed.

Yeah I think it was taken later in the day, I certainly wouldn't judge the K750i's camera on my shoddy camerawork

@silie
To be perfectly honest they both seem about the same to me, the filesizes all seem to be about 460k and the quality is comparable.

I dont think theres any difference in cameraquality between R1J and R1L, they both use cameraversion 4.4

The qualitydegrade came between firmware R1A and R1J when cameraverison was changed from 3.8 to 4.4

Both R1J and R1L has the same camera version 4.4 so shouldnt be any difference. Havent noticed any big difference from R1A either except for filesize but that just good if they have managed to decrease it look at Nokia N90 it has filesize between 250 and 450 for its 2 Mpx shoots so filesize doesent define quality.

No, filesize can mean a few things.. example...
1. Compression ratios (how much data is discarded by the image processing software) is increase thus lowering quality
2. Camera post-processing software isn't recording the max data

I know when i got my R1A phone the images were generally around 500-600Kb on max res and fine quality

When went to R1J the max filesize i ever got was around 300-400Kb

So it could be the "Fine" setting is not working or the images are just not being recorded at low compression

Wait till another version comes out...

S700i's camera is still at version 1.0 after 4 firmwares so count yourselves lucky they are doing ANYTHING with the k750i camera....although at the moment they do appear to be going backwards!

Tbh i think those 2 pictures are a bad example.

For a start in bright sunlight that completely white wall will overexposed on pretty much any camera.

The second picture looks less exposed simply because there was less sun. Sharpness looks pretty much fine on both pictures.

We need a comparison between R1A and R1J/R1L.

Definetaly

Videorecording quality was degraded also at the same time, even more than photoquality, and this is easily documented by the recording bitrate which dropped from 200kbit/s to 70kbit/s

The problem with photos is that photoquality are not technically documentable like bitrate is in videos, in photos you can only judge from what you see with your eyes and shots are not taken under identical circumstances.
To really compare if theres any difference, you would need 2 phones, one with R1A firmware and one with R1J firmware, and then you would need to take the exact same picture from the same angle at the same time. Since most dont have the possibility to make such comparisons, its mostly based on judgmental feelings or experience.

I cant exactly prove theres any difference as I do not have access to any K750 still running R1A, all I can do is compare the shots I take now with shots I took with R1A firmware.

Also, to make it even more complicated, its not in all situations that the quality dropped, I still get good shots in close ups, or normal lighting situations. Its really only in bright sunlight conditions I see the difference. The phone doesnt handle bright sunlight as good with R1J (cameraversion 4.4) as it did with R1A (cameraversion 3.8 ) and now tends to overexpose bright sunlight quite often.
