It seems like it will be a honami vs. "eos" clash in late summer..

I have doubts that the EOS will be able to match the 808, at least with the initial firmware, but regardless.. at least we kind of know what to expect in terms of IQ.

With the Sony.. we have no idea. The closest thing in terms of sensor/pixel size would be the N8, but that still doesn't give us much since they will be so different. One thing is certain, after 3 years, they will finally be able to surpass the N8.

It will be really cool if they manage to IP57 certified it as well... that would make it a hit along the coastlines I will be buying one for sure.

Back in the days it's and nokia constantly clashing on cameraphone supremacy, so it'll be not surprising to see history repeating itself i'm not sure about the capabilities of the EOS but if Sony played their cards right, Honami's camera will be one of the few cameras that can truly replace sub-compact system cameras like the venerable Canon S-series, I do want optical zoom capability though

if sony can somehow put optical zoom, even just 3x (which is standard on a lot of compact cameras), into honami i will be very impressed and very grateful!

Actually they could but they need to sacrifice the thickness

Thickness cannot be compramized beyond 9mm~10mm at any cost ,anything above feels huge and bulky, check with apple/samsung/htc thinner phones are the success models even xperia z,people liked zl design, not thicker design.Hence Sony should use there design making thin design, loved to see Honami,Togari looks very sleek according to spy pic.

i meant while keeping it thin and sexy.

also, even if they end up releasing a phone that's 12mm and isn't crazy thin, it will be justified if they packed so much amazing tech inside it. i'll gladly sacrifice 2-3mm for all that tech. it's not that big of a deal for me.

of course, it is sony. one of the best, if not the best, at cramming in amazing tech inside a small package. they've done it with the high end flagship vaio for years.. about time they do it for the high end flagship xperia phone

I have to think that the best way they can incorporate the larger camera is to have a curved back that comes flush with the lens. It offers more interior room for the components while also disguising the true thickness required by the camera and giving an ergonomic feel to the phone. In my opinion this would be a better design than the raised area around the lens that Nokia seems to be using, and that keeping the overall thickness sub 10mm is a pipe-dream. I'm hoping that the rumor of them incorporating metal instead of glass will be in order to accomplish that kind of design.

You guys seem to have forgotten that optical zoom within 14mm thickness is impossible for Honami because it's got 2/3" sensor! even with folded optics design like the ones seen on sony T-series cybershots, the sensor will command the use of a larger glass and will make the overall camera assembly bigger. But it may be addressed through the use of optional 3rd party lens accessory as Honami was rumored to feature.
