I have now purchased my domain and hosting. The site will be
http://FireEgg.com
I split the price 50/50 with a mate of mine who wants to host his music but would like to advertise using a different domain.
I purchased a pointer domain, lets just call in Fred.com for now. I was advisd that It is possible to redirect Fred.com traffic to a specific part of my site instead of myy home page.
My question is (because this is my first time building a site) how can I have it so that when people go to Fred.com it will be redirected to
/htdocs/Fred/index.htm
instead of
/htdocs/index.htm (my main page).
If you know, I would like an idiots guide please...

you could setup a couple of things.
Firstly a sub domain pointed to a folder containing all his content: eg phones.music.com (and in whatever cpanel you use pointing that to /whatever/phonecomfiles/
Then get his domain registrar to just point his domain name at that subdomain you've setup.
Secondly, you could advise him to get hosting, It's not that expensive, check out the hosting deals on godaddy.com - its who I have my domain registered through (though not hosted as at the time they didn't have the deals)
Alot of hosts allow alot of downloading, so if he's hosting music files then it may not be as bad as he thinks.
thirdly, iirc (and its been years since I did anything DNS'y) you could just have the a record for
www.phones.com pointed to your servers addy, and have your own registrar setup a virtual hosting record to point that to the appropriate folder in your domain. (This would retain his domain name when browsing as opposed to changing it to .yourdomain.com)
There might be other options as well.
