Seems like a nice start
Q:
What's the basis for you to say that the ideal resolution for conversion is 296 x 192 ?
The phone resolution is 208 x 320 pixels in flip-open and 208 x 144 in flip-closed. Since the pixels are perfectly square, the ideal resolutions should be:
If you are converting files with a 4:3 aspect ratio (TV), the resolution should be 277 x 208 for flip-open, or 208 x 156 for flip-closed.
If you are converting files with a 16:9 aspect ratio (WideScreen), the resolution should be 320 x 180 for flip-open, or 208 x 117 for flip closed.
Other spect ratios, you have to do the math yourself!
With these resolutions you don't get the stretched image effects.
Keep up the good work

You cant watch films in flip closed, and to convert a film in mp4 using the full aspect of the screen would mean either cutting the frame rate to about 2fps or the bitrat to about 20.
The ratio of the settings given by chemos is 1.54 widths to 1 full length and the ratio of the screen size of the phone is 1.538 so the settings are fine.
Check out chemos' encodings and see.

I'm sure the ratio you are suggesting depends on the movie you are converting. I have alot of movies that are ultra-wide-screen
I gave you two examples, 4:3 and 16:9, but movies in DVD come with different sizes all the time.
Changing subject, you should try SmartMovie.
Once did a test and the frame rate/quality was incredible compared with MP4.
Have fun

Check SERchive... I have already done loads of encoding, and made loads of films in smartmovie, some are uploaded, I also used to do MP4.

Actually garder... now you ask
I am using Powweb and have ordered a domain pointer, and was wondering how I could get it to point to a subdomain rather than the main site. I have a subdomain of DJGnawty.FireEgg.com and a pointer which is DJGnawty.com. I have read about a htaccessfile or something, but im completely lost.

About the design: You should be more careful with colors, I think.
