3rd party apps not working."reason number 3"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've spent a while searching for answers to this one. Many people have had the same problem, but none of the replies seem to know what causes this. My guess is that it's memory-related. but does anyone actually KNOW the reason and how to fix it? (P900 by the way.)
Both E-Heretic and Opera (free version 6.31) won't run and give me the error message: PROGRAM CLOSED. REASON KERN-EXEC. REASON NUMBER 3.
Any ideas guys? There must be someone who knows....???
Cheers
Rob

@Hyper: What FW you on ? Mine says R4A and CDA 162005/6 (P910)
@Rob> Definative answers may be tough here. I got the "exact" same screen.
and this SE Service Center guy I know just shrugged saying '.. OS acts up at times'. And mine DID NOT even have ANY ext apps on it.. it was a virgin new set hardly into its second week and I was onto text.ing (SMS) at the time.

@sai...Install SMan....This can happen sometimes when there are apps running the background which use up memory ( although it shouldnt be happening on a P910i with larger RAM space)
SMan has an excellent task management module which lists out all the running apps along with the amount of memory they are using up
Other than that, uninstall Opera and perform a fresh installation...download the latest version from the Opera website

@Mrao: Thanx for that Infobyte

Maybe I should.
Apropos the Opera install.. As I said, mine was still in a virgin state with NO additional apps except for what it came with.
And I was
just trying to send SMS msgs, So thats about the load on memory (BT etc were off)
Think the answer to "Why" still alludes us ..

Gee...windows gives us numerous errors even though there may be 30+ gigs of memory available...does that mean theres a problem with the pc..nope..if the error you speak of persists..the best thing to do would be to perform a master reset...usually works

mrao, just because winblows gives us errors, doesn't mean that Symbian should take that heed and do the same.
When a phone costs as much if not more than a PC, you will bloody well want to find out why the OS is crapping itself.

I think the Kern Exec error #3 is a generic error.
You can't take make any conclusions out of it, except that something went wrong.
