can someone confirm to me that normal intel celeron motherboards work with intel celeron d cpu's
i just got a free pc with great periphals but the proccessor is a celeron 900mhz
and im lookin to buy a celeron 2.9ghz d processor
would i have to buy a new motherboard???

You need to confirm the socket type that the chip uses.
Intel changes their sockets almost as much as apple keeps hawking new ipods.
Older celerons use a completely different socket to newer chips. Granted the last experience i had with celeron was about the p3.

Celerons are (typiaclly) socket 370, Celeron D is socket 478.
Besides, if the socket type was the same the BIOS on your board would be unlikely to support a 2.9GHz processor even if you flashed it with the latest version.
