Hi, hope someone can help me
I have just bought the p800 mobile phone from a used mobile phone store, the thing is it came just as that, only the handset, and it seems the phone had been formatted leaving it nearly stripped, e.g no tones, images wallpaper or software, and plus didnt even come with a stylus,
OK so i downloaded the pc suite from SE website and bought a compatible usb cable thingy with a driver cd, but when the cable is connected there is no link established from pc to phone or vice versa
in fact the software just does not detect the phone (should it if i wave it in front of the infrared port without cable) Im sorry to go on but it seems to be a fantastic phone and would love to see it with some other applications. I have managed to get some tones on it from GPRS but am eagr to put mp3 files on it
Thanx please help if you can
am i doing it all wrong? do i need hardware or other software?

Looks to me like the store just sold you a stolen p800, hmm....

.. but Are you sure you have the right cable for a P800?

Well, I remember I had a similar problem with my P800 while I had it.

I was able to solve it by right clicking on the connection icon on my PC and selecting some ports and unselecting others (I do not remember which now though).

You also need to check the Phone Monitor configuration in your PC control panel.

I can only point you that far, as I have forgotten details. You may want to consult your PC Suite help files for greater details. But IF your phone and the cable are both ok, that's where the problem will be.

goto control panel -> connections -> cable

Select modem

click done

goto cable again

select pc connect

select done will connect now!

make sure u tick the USB box at your Phone connection link m8 (if you want transfer data) nd uncheck (if you want to use it as modem)

Phoe connection link is back-to-back double arrow icon on the right part of your window's bar (assuming you install pc suite already)

try to download the manual book m8, its available on sonyericsson site

Thanx ppl for the replys, seems to be sorted exept from the pc suite software (downloaded from SE site) there is no link to be able to transfer files???
Also when trying to sync it wont start
