Seems it's impossible with either of the above phones to use the handsfree/headphones while the phone is being charged.
This is a bit of a regression as it was possible in all earlier SE phones.
Any workarounds or after-market accessories - splitters etc - that might allow this?

Its only a regression if you charged the phone whilst having the handsfree connected. Personally i never did, so it does not bother me at all.
I prefer the new fast port, it looks better, is faster and allows us to do more with attachable cables.

In car charger lets you do this, the CLA-60 is the one I have, and it also has a nice little light on it as well.

OK you can use a bluetooth handsfree, but if you want to use a wired handsfree to listen to music when charging, why not get the desktop charger, as this has the port on the side to connect a handsfree to.

I have a CLA-60 on order from eBay actually, that's good news that it can be used in conjunction with a handsfree kit.
Is there an extra connection on the car adapter that allows this then? Shame it can't be done from a standard charger.
I do have a bluetooth handsfree but don't always keep it fully charged.
And of course it now takes a different charger than the one that comes with the W800.
