> SE and the security around the PXXXX
Bookmark topic
One thing I've been impressed/disappointed with

has been the level of secrecy around the next P series phone.
With other models, and indeed the previous P models, we've had details leaked, bad camera phone pictures, prototype models, lists of features etc, all out well before the launch. This doesn't happen with all SE models of course, but the level of interest in the next smartphone means that anything even loosely related will find it's way out.
So there's really only 3 options:
1) Their security around it is at levels never seen before
2) As in 1, but they're also not far enough down the development cycle that it needs to be shown to people
3) There is no new P series
We all know that over the last year SE have tightened up the security around new models, and there are various arguments as to whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. But with regards to the next P series, there is NOTHING out there.
So what does that mean?

Before I forget, thread number "100952" is another place you wanna check if you reading this. And much as we may like to think otherwise, I think SE is just too comfy being slow. Its only lately that they have 'woken up' to feel the Pulse of the Market (esp.ly big ones like here, India). I guess it could be Point Two of yours. I may be wrong but my views! I use P910 for office work and SURELY have many requirements/ thoughts that others too might have. Unlike Blokia thou, SE plays it slow and doesn't glut !

I suspect its more a case of increased security than anything. In the past there's been alot more photos about models and information floating around.
This year seems to be quite different though. In some ways its alot nicer, its like that christmassy feeling of opening a new present from a family member not having any idea what it is at all.
That or theres valid corporate reasons for keeping their models to themselves.

but when ppl curiosity reach the top, ppl will began pesimictic, boredom of waiting. when the SE release the now model, market/ppl rection will not be optimistic. aat least SE has to follow nokia marketing campaign, they announce their upcoming model abt 6month-1year before launching. so ppl have vision what they have to buy in a couple of month, & allow ppl to prep thir budget.

I am waiting on two phones..... The sucessor to the S710a and the sucessor to the P910a
The 1st mentioned above will be my everyday phone, while the second mentioned above will be my work phone.
With all the rumors and no word on any launch dates, I have to say that is taking to long for an announcement.
I switched my loyalty from Nokia many years ago, due to SE's interface and features. I still love

, however I am also tired of waiting on the next upgrade.
If you are like me and consistently upgrade your phones, it is quite annoying to have to wait without any indication as to what SE's next technology will bring.
Hopefully no other maker will win my heart over as

did when I dropped Nokia. ,

if you are listening, your customer base is growing anxious , while you sit on your A$$. Say something and stop leaving your customers in the air.........

lol first off why should they follow nokia's lead and announce all their phones?
If they announced, say, their new p series in january, you'd ALL still be moaning and whining it wasn't out yet but instead saying "

told us in january what it was going to have, where is it?! "
I think its a little unfair to say they're just sitting around because you don't have the phones you want right now.
K750, W800, Z520, W600, all phones showing they're actually doing something and releasing. If they're not to your taste then don't blame

for that. They'll certainly be to someone elses taste.

Either they've gone apple on this one, which I doubt we would hear rumors, and then people would get their asses sued off.
I just think they havent progressed into a state where the phone is presentable to people.

@ Gigs
Where do you live ? In the UK ? Lucky you.
All of the phones you have mentioned are not available in the U.S.
The Z520 and the W600 would be the only ones I could use with a 850 network.
Ironic enough the ones I do like K750 and W800 will not work on my network. I can purchase a K750 and W800 however as much as I travel, I would lose signal in certain areas. I can not rely on 1900 alone. With a 850/1900/900 /1800 I am in the drivers seat and ready to go anywhere.
It's nice to pass judgement , when you have such a variety to pick from. Understand the plight before opening your mouth........

yeah u're right guys. i'm just cannot stand when nokia flooding the market with their dumb phones. i just wanna SE to be more active & proactive.
SE seems a little passive & only a bit reactive to market/consumer needs.
u guys can see in this forum... many2 SE lovers wants SE to make non touch screen smart phones&p910 successor. they believe it will compete directly wit dominant nokia s60 phone&penertate nokia smartphone market.
geezz i think i'm just impatient fella.

No Reo, I'm in New Zealand.
Where, unless I'm mistaken, all of those models save the k750i is yet to be out, and the K750i is supposed to be coming out any day soon. We'll see however.
So as to understanding your plight, sure I do. You're impatient. You want them to develop at your pace. Well hey you try developing phones on their scale and see if you do any better with the competition down your throat too.
Do I feel for you, sure, but the fact is you can still use them. They may not be out there in the us, hell they're not out here either. Sure you have specific frequency needs, this means unfortunately you just have to wait longer unless they announce models specifcally for your region.
Z520, may not be an upgrade from what you have but it'll be quad band, certainly usable there.
So again, sure i'll judge,

haven't been quiet, they've just not released something you'd take as an upgrade over what you currently have. Unfortunately unless you're the purchasing power of a major network or a distributor looking to buy a couple of thousand units, I don't think

are going to cater to yours, mine or anyone elses direct whim right this moment. They're right to keep quiet so they know they have their product right.
@cenfi:

aren't we all important?
I tend to take esatos wants with a grain of salt, to be honest We're all phone geeks here wanting higher level gadgets, I neither believe nor see the fact that people have all these "smart phones" because of their ability to be smart. I believe most people by a nokia smart phone for name, saturation, pricing and simply because it is a phone. Mind you there was alredy a big thread on that and probably not worth rehashing
