On my Sharp GX30 Macro mode enabled me to take some really good close detail pictures at very close up. As far as I can see macro mode on my 750i doesn't really do anything at all. Am I missing something here?

macro works just fine, but you have to know when to use it.

Macro is for distances between 10cm-30cm, you cannot go closer than 10cm, and above 30cm you should disable it.

My experiencie with the macro setting has been great. I've taken Excellent pictures of my cats really close, and they show a lot of detail and are focused. Just don't get too close and you'll be fine.

Yeah...and make sure there is enough lighting in whatever condition you want to take your shot on. And if in total darkness, the double LEDs may come in handy too!

I have a W800i but as they are basically the same phone thought i'd share my experiences regarding the macro function on this phone. One things for sure it certainly does what it suppose to do, and with some excellent results. This message was posted from a P910

Macro mode is when the object in the picture appears bigger then it is in reality. Most of the photos are the other way around. For example if you photograph a house the final picture is 6x4 inches, but if you photograph a 3mm ant and the picture is still 6x4 inches then it is sad you have used the macro mode to get a properly focused/magnified pic.The K750i has a somewhat limited macro function because it only can focus on the subject from a distance of 10+ cm.Now that's fine if you have optical zoom (you can uppe the zoom lens to get 'closer'). A proper macro-mode is when you can get to within 1in of your subject at the lens aperture used by todays cells.I am afraid the K750i does't manage that,however it does set the camera objective on maxim and focuses on the closest object possible.If you want a better macro mode look at the N90 from Nokia.(sorry to say this on ESATO but I can't deny the truth) Greetings from South Africa. The close-ups I've seen on the N90 aren't as clear as identical close-ups taken with a W800. They are not as sharp as the W800, so I doubt the N90 has a closer focal distance than the W800....
