> K750i auto-connecting to GPRS through MMS profile
Bookmark topic
Hi,
My k750i (with w800i R1k001 firmware) automatically tries to connect through GPRS using the MMS profile at regular intervals for no apparent reason. The blue GPRS triangle and the earth icon appear for 1-2 sec and disappear. Looking at the Data counters, a couple of bytes are exchanged each time.
As a temporary work around (to avoid paying GPRS fees), I've setup dummy MMS profile and data connection that does not dial any number. The phone will try to connect two times in a row and retry after a couple of minutes but at least it's not sending any GPRS data...
Does anybody know what could cause this (setting, bug, etc) ? I have no MMS messages in my indox, outbox nor draft folders and and the auto-download is disabled.
Thanks,
Martin

possibly to do with e mail accounts, you can set them up to auto receive at intervals set by the user, so it might be attempting to connect to a non existant account.
Or maybe not.............
If not that then no idea sorry.

Thanks for the reply Sooteee.
I have an email account setup but it is using a different internet profile (CSD dial up connection, not the MMS/GPRS one). Also, the check interval is set to "off". So this is not what is causing the problem...
Thanks again,
Martin

@martroy
Well, I guess buying a brand new Volvo and switch engine with a Saab would make the car behave a little weird as well
Maybe this flashing boom has gone a bit far lately. What's next... installing Windows XP in a K750
I read in a magazine that SE had asked a company that flashes K750 with W800 firmware to stop doing it - it had to do with the fact that the firmware wasn't fully compatible with the K750 (at least not at this moment). It also was about people not being able to update the phone themselves afterwards.

@CyberVisitor
That's the only weird thing that I've noticed. Besides that this phone just rocks...

I don't think this is due to the firmware change but could rather be a configuration problem or a bug with this specific software revision...
Installing XP would cause more problems I guess...

At least I don't get blue screens...

Just to let you know, I've solved my problem by deleting all the MMSs that I had received and downloaded and that were still in my inbox.
I still can't figure out why it would try to connect even if the auto download feature is disabled... Any ideas ?
