Does anybody know if you can stop the phone from sending your balance after every call/sms?
If I leave the phone on the balance screen and not press OK - the phone cannot take any calls/further sms' till its been cleared. Calling the number results in phone unavailable.

I've noticed this too and would also like to switch it off, i left it the other day and didn't press OK which by the end of the day i'd recieved over 9 msgs, 2 which were important!

Exactly - the worst point tho is if someone wants to call you - they get the tone as if its been switched off.

If i remember correctly it is possible to switch this off. I think it was discussed on here a year or two ago. You have to contact o2 and they will do it for you. Hope i am remembering correctly and was not dreaming it.

I have the same problem. I phoned O2 and they told me it is not possible to switch this off.
However, what happens if you change the alert from pop-up to appear in the Events Menu instead? I know this is annoying when you get a text, but as least you WILL get the text...?
I've not tried it as I currently have a Voda sim in my K750 but must be worth a go?

There is no "new events" option under the General tab in settings on the W800i, there aint an option to change this.

It is possible....if I remember correctly I either contacted 02 or I was given a handset code. Was ages ago but did manage to disable it.

I have read on here that people have done it by contacting O2 and asking them to remove the message alert.
