Have been on a virgin tarriff for a while, but costing me too much - don't want a contract what Payg do people suggest?

Presumably I could just fit the sim in my old phone - oh yes - it's a nokia 3510i! Sorry about that...

To recommend a tariff we'd really need to know your average usage, so:

How much do you currently spend on Virgin PAYG per month on average?

How many minutes of voice calls do you use and at what times of the day on average?

How many texts do you send per month on average?

How much WAP/GPRS do you use per month on average?

Ok, how about Tesco Mobile Value SIM?

60 anyone/anytime minutes per month @ 15p/min = £9.00
15 texts @ 5p/text = £0.75

That's less than £10 per month for what you're currently using.

And they've got a half price SIM offer currently with £5 of airtime.

EDIT: Just noticed it doesn't allow roaming or MMS...

Oh my god! That is very tempting - I'll look into that right away. Presumably I just pop down there and get the sim?

I'm amazed that none of the 'real' phone companies can do better than that! Tells you a lot about them, or is it a sort of bland patch for them - are they moving away from PAYG?

Cheers once again,

ah - presumably if it doesn't work abroad I need a phone that fits two sims.

Or how about the O2 Online Pay as you Go 'Talkalot with Calls and Messages' tariff?

You get 100 Anyone/Anytime Minutes or 100 Text Messages or 33 Media Messages for £10 per month top-up or a combination.

(The inclusive anyone anytime minutes, the text messages and the media messages are part of the same allowance. 1 minute of call time is equivalent to 1 text message. 1 media message is equivalent to 3 text messages or 3 minutes of calls.)
