... and large here, after editing the post.
Edit: Is this a bug?

no, its the way signatures work.
When you initially post, the signature is not part of the text of the post and so if you change your signature at a later date, all previous posts that have not been edited will also show the new signature.
When viewing unedited posts, the script which adds the signature also includes code to make them small.
When you edit a post, the signature then forms part of the text of the post and so does not run through that script which adds the signature and thus the signature does not get formatted
at least thats how I understand it

Uh-huh.
If the Edit notice was placed at the botom of the text and not in the signature, would the consistency of size be restored?
Edit: testing 123...

So if I edit a post how do I get it to go small and signature-ified again?? Is there an 'add signature' BBcode or something?

You could wrap your signature in <small> tags after an edit I suppose.
<small>Original Signature Text</small>
I've disabled HTML so that the tags show up, normally the text will be as small as your signature text is pre-editing.

I figured it out!
I added:
Code:<div class=\"sig\">"I'm a minimalist, I like the idea of less is more. Unless you're a girl, a cigar or a steak in which case too skinny is not so good"<BR>The 'girl, cigar and steak' line - Ricky D '07</div>
to the bottom of my above post to create the siganture style.

with this code you will have your sig as if you never edited your post, but you will have the stamp that you did edit it. it's fine though
