Hi,
Ive been using bluetooth to transfer mp3s to my pda from my computer for a while but recently the computer ive been using [my sisters] has been replaced for a laptop and i don't have access to the one i was using bluetooth on. So i installed all the bluetooth software and my p910i paired with the laptop fine and they seem to find eachother but when i try to transfer files, i abruptly get a failure message saying a range of things from "the device you are transferring to is not responding" or "invalid argument" or "no response from device" so when the laptop is trying to send the file to the phone...the phone is not recieving it and I don't know why. All the settings are fine, both devices visible and in range. Occasionally my phone is showing the "blah blah is is tranferring a file, accept or decline" but that message is appearing AFTER the file fails to transfer. So I can't click accept in time, and the accept/decline doesnt appear every time i try to send as it should.
Also, I'm not sure why but I have 2 bluetooth symbols at on my taskbar, one finds my phone and the other doesnt. I'm using a USB dongle bluetooth and its flashing ok. I don't understand why I have 2 bluetooth services and why one is completely not working and the other wont transfer. I'll post a screencap. If anyone can help I'll be very grateful. This problem isn't written very logically as I'm trying to explain saying things more than once to help give the idea.

You probably ( surely) have Win XP with SP2 on that laptop. Basically, when you plugged in the dongle, XP auto-detected it and installed its native drivers...that accounts for 1 BT icon.....Since you also installed the BT software that came with the dongle....you have a 2nd icon....Im guessing that the reason you are facing an issue is because of a clash between the native XP drivers and the 3rd party drivers....I suggest you uninstall the 3rd party software completely...Then reboot the PC...and then plug in the dongle...and then pair the lappy and phone....and you should be fine.

It says the device isn't responding. There seems to be no problem with my PDA. Bluetooth is switched on and active...the transfer fails unusually quickly, it seems that the phone is barely getting the CHANCE to respond before the laptop admits defeat...

Have you unpaired and then re-paired the phone and laptop....
Also initiate the pairing from the laptop

Done that, but still the problem occurs. Is pairing just another word for adding a device? do you mean I should add the pda using the laptop and then add the laptop to the pdas device list? ^^;

Yup....so you delete your laptop from the list of known devices in your phone....do the same on your laptop....then you right-click the BT icon in the taskbar of the laptop...and search for new devices...when your phone pops up...you pair it using a passkey....a prompt should pop up on the phone asking to enter the same passkey as you did on the laptop...dfo that...( and check the allow this device to connect to my phone wiithout asking prompt.if there is one on your phone).....all the above steps should succesfully pair your laptop and phone
