The other half's w800 - which is less than a week old - did something strange today. It locked up. By that, I mean the screen had darkened, showing the time only, but you couldn't do anything with it. None of the buttons worked, and the only way to turn it off was to remove the battery.
When I tried to call it, I was told the phone was switched off.
I took the battery out and put it back, and now all is well again.
Anyone else had this at all?

Thanks for that. I was pretty sure it was quite normal for such a sophisticated phone.

Guys, it just happened again, 30 minutes after the first time. The first time it happened, I took the battery out and put it back. Then Viv left her phone in her pocket while we went for dinner. During dinner, she looked at her phone, and it was dead again - the same thing.
The phone goes back tomorrow; we'll try to change it.
On another note, I noticed that when the phone was new, the memory stick only had 460Mb of memory left, not 512. Is that normal?

LMAO!! No, we don't have GPRS set up here; it's too slow to use!
It was sitting quietly on the chair next to Viv when it happened. Any ideas?

Sorry to dig up this old(ish) thread, but the phone locked up again. This is three times in less than two weeks. Surely that can't be normal?
We didn't take it back last weekend (after it had locked up twice), because we needed to wait for it to lock again before taking it back, and it didn't. Typical!
However, Viv turned her phone off and put it on charge last night, but when she got up this morning, she found the phone displaying 01:54 on the screen, and she couldn't turn it on. I had to remove the battery & put it back for it to work. How come the clock was showing when the phone had been turned off completely?
We really need to keep in touch today, so she's having to use her phone. This means we now have to wait for it to lock up again before we can take it back. And we definitely will this time. This should not be happening to a brand new phone. It's quite possible that the phone is fake, in my opinion. Half of the mobile phones in China are fake. Even the shops are fake, sometimes!
