I was reading the P910 manual and came across this reference

The technical data on page 195 of the manual reads "memery stick duo upti 128 MB supported.memory stick pro duo upto 1 GB supported"

does this mean that if i want to go for a 256 MB stick it has to be a memory stick pro duo?

Yes, but you wont find any non-pro card over 128MB as that's all it can handle. ALL ms duo sticks 256mb and up are Pro.

we've had quite a few discussions about this topic here at Esato and it shows how much Sony fouled up when people still get confused over the different memory sticks.

From those discussions, and also mentioned in the latest version of the P910 white paper, the maximum you can use is 2gb and this appears to be due to the fact that the P910 uses FAT16 whose addressing maximum makes this the limit.

People are hoping/assuming the next p series will move to FAT32 and that would seem sensible in this day and age with 4gb cards soon to become available

ah now it makes sense

since there are no non-pro sticks above 128 then the question of support does not airse

so if o for any memory stick for say 256 MB, by default i wold end up with the correct stick(in the case of 256 MB, i will end up with a pro stick), correct?
