Yet another "vs" thread this time concerning the stereo of the two phones.
I'm in big doubt about which one to aquire and the music quality (as i have to sell my ipod) is a very important issue!
So, has anyone tried HPM70 on k750 ? Is the stereo quality the same as on the w800 with the same earphones ?
And how well does it performs against an ipod (volume and quality) ?

Yes, its exactly the same.

And soundquality is the same as on Ipod, if you use the same headphones and the same files as on your Ipod

the k750 has got good sound and if you use some decent headphones its even better.
however i also own an ipod and have used the same headphones and files on both and the ipod is far superior in its delivery of the music it has a better grip on the low end and overall a better delivery.
however if you dont want 2 devices on your person then the k750/w800 are both great choices

I suggest that you play around and make your own EQ setting, it makes it better and definately brings it on a par with the "great" ipod. lol

i never use eq when listen to music i dont see the point of artifically trying to change music when its recorded by the artist to sound a certain way.
if they wanted it to sound differnet they would have got the producer to do it that way.
if you need eq then i would suggest the source for playing the music is nt that good. as there should be no need to increase bass treble etc if the source and machine are capable.
the k750 is a more than capable player its just not on par with a dedicated machine in my opinion

If you are replacing an iPod you should be looking for more than the sound quality (which is identical on most recent SE models - and superior to iPods). A few things to consider:

- Media player functionality: the built-in software may differ between phone models in its abilities to manipulate (tag, rename, etc.) media files, to create and manage playlists and to communicate with PCs or external devices.
- Memory size: internal phone memory and default (bundled) Memory Stick capacity, including the optional maximum available (and compatible).
- Battery life: essential when listening to music (and you still want it to be a phone and have enough 'juice' to connect)
- Hardware connectivity (cables, bluetooth etc.) - e.g. to HiFi systems and TVs, in addition to a PC. Availability of compatible accessories for that.

In all these areas, I believe the Walkman would excell as it is a phone optimised as a portable music player, while the K750 is optiised as a camera (in which it is, perhaps, slightly better than the W800).

Are you talking about W800 or W800i? In some countries only one of these is being launched, and there is confusion about the differences. If you have a choice, definitely go for the latter - it is sure to support A2DP (Advanced Audio Digital Profile), a new standard that makes a difference if music is your priority. Older phones, for example, while having brilliant sound quality through wired earphones, cannot transmit bluetooth signal in stereo to wireless headsets. And these (stereo models) are rapidly coming to the market (not from SE - yet, but from people like Wi-gear and Nokia)...

Best of luck in your choice -

Cheerz,
A.

I do believe there is no difference in the "i" in W800"i" it only means its the "international" version as opposed to the W800"c", "chinese" version.

Also i do believe the W800 and K750 have identical photo capabilities.

Thanks for the replies !
I do believe that the ipod is the best you can get on today's mp3 player market so something a little less in terms of performance isn't that bad. How about the volume?
As far as i know neither w800(i) nor k750 suports ADP (which is a big "-" considering the desired market of the phone).
I don't know about playlist, files and id3 management differences; are there any ?

PS Anybody knows anything about volume limitation for european phones ? (like there is for european ipods)
