whenever i make a call on my t610 now, i here a loud crackling sound and me nor the other person can make out one word the other is saying. what could be wrong?

Sounds more like a speaker problem. Try putting the call on speakerphone and see if the problem persists.
It can be easily rectified (if you have the confidence and a T6 screwdriver) by taking the phone apart and giving the contacts on the PCB a good clean, and the same with the speaker itself. It's probably best whilst your there to make sure everything else is clean, and get any dust that's accumulated between the facia and the screen too - it'll give your phone a new lease of life!
