I had ordered these after seeing people on here snapping them up..but can someone explain why this is so special as you can get these in shops too (I thought they were literally free- as in not having to top up by £10)

There not free in the shops, thats the difference. Of course, if you want £10 credit on your phone, you have to pay £10. They have never been referred to as free sim cards with free credit.

the one in the shop are completely different. the are high street sims with cheaper calls and you must pay for all text and mms. with the o2 online (sometimes refered to as genie sim cards as thats what they were called before they were rebanded o2) you can get 300 free text or 100 free mms or 100 free call minutes. all for just toping up with 10 quid per month, it does not cost you 10 pounds for those free benefits you can use it as credit
