> SE and Nokia neck and neck in reliability
Bookmark topic
A recent 'Which' survey found that handset users reported a high rate of failure (1 in 7). The survey doesn't distinguish between network and operator faults, so I wasn't happy with it's finding that SE phones ranked twice as unreliable as Nokia phones. My experience doesn't support those findings so I looked for more evidence of research on handset problems that DON'T include network faults, to get a truer view of failure rates from different manufacturers.
This article show that SE and Nokia rank almost the same in handset reliability. Both are above average. The sample of users is 5 times larger than the 'Which' survey.

I think it is about 2.5 times.

I agree the which survey isn't 50

, but according to the guardian it's 2500, not 5000. Either way it's still a larger sample.

OK. (Which? site said 5K). Anyway, it doesnt matter if the data is statistically representative.

edits: oops. My mistake. Which? site said 5K responded but about 2.5K bought phone in the last 12 months. (So 2.5K sample size is correct).

Be that as it may, it certainly serves to give us a broader perspective from which to base our commentary. Nice one, Max.

i m not sure either survey means alot. since the lead question on both seems to be "have you ever had a problem with your mobile phone"
i doubt most people would be able to answer anything other than yes.
the problem is unless you ask what the problem was and what was responsible for the problem you dont really get a true picture of whats to blame phone moblie network provider or the end user

I agree, and I only presented the survey to show that the 'which' survey wasn't necessarily the be all and end all
In my experience, the Connect survey results are more accurate than the Which results.
