> Less free RAM when MS installed
Bookmark topic
Hi there
I have a P900 (upgraded with P910 modified firmware).
I've noticed a strange thing:
When I boot the phone WITH my MS DUO PRO 1GB installed I have LESS free RAM, than when I boot without it.
Here's what I do:
I boot the phone, start Sman, Do a flush tasks (to close the messages app) and a compress memory, results:
Without MS installed: Free RAM about 6.4 MB
With MS installed: Free RAM about 6.0 MB
I have almost all my programs installed on the MS, but none of them loaded at boot-time - does the system load anything else form the MS if it's there?
Where does the 400kb go ???

on boot with my 1gb duo i have 22% free average! with out the ms duo i have 37% free! why is this? i don't know and i do know that none of the apps on my duo pro are being loaded! i also run the SE desktop which i never use! removing that frees up a lot of ram!

I have the same apps running.
Messages is also running on boot, but as I wrote, I do a flush + compact memory after boot.
With MS installed: 36% free (5924KB)
Without MS installed: 39% free (6436KB)
It varies a bit with every boot (strange??) but there's always about 3-400kb more free ram without the MS.
I can understand that loading the icons of all the extra apps installed on the MS will take some RAM, but 3-400KB ???
Sman does not report any other apps running when the MS is installed, does it show everything, or could there be something it's not showing?
This is the memory use reported by Sman:
without MS:
Flipkeypad: 48k
Sman: 84k
EiksrvBackdrop: 516k
Applications: 112k
Beamer 68k
Appicker 64K
WITH MS:
Flipkeypad: 48k
Sman: 84k
EiksrvBackdrop: 524k
Applications: 104k
Beamer 64k
Appicker 52K
So most if the apps are using LESS ram ??
Total used by apps reported by Sman:
Without MS: 892k
WITH MS: 876k
Then WHY is there 400k LESS free ram ???
Something in the system part of the operating system, not shown by Sman must be using the extra ram.
