I just bought my first game (Chessmaster), and I'd really like to back it up so I don't have to pay for it again if something goes wrong with the phone. But when I plug the phone in the PC via USB cable, I can't see the games in explorer. Is there any way to get the game to my PC?

games can only be sent pc->phone not the other way. so in future when you want to backup the game, download it to the pc directly, and you can send it to pc when you want.
