Can I have your experience regarding the earphones?

My HPM-70 that came with my W800i has a VERY weak bass at normal equalizer settings. Only by using the MEGABASS option will it reach acceptable levels. This is contradictory to how it is being advertised by SE, that it "makes sure you hear your favourite songs in stereo with excellent bass".

Pls, to all W800i owners and those who bought a separate HPM-70, how's the earphone on normal equalizer setting (bars all at equal levels)? I just want to know if mine is defective, or all HPM-70 perform this way.

Thanks.

they sound a bit tinny. you could also use any 3.5 mm headphones with it.

Mine have loads of bass, way more than standard headphones anyway. I'd bring them back to the shop, they should be able to do a straight swap for you.

Thanks too, luckykid.

Now it's clear that there must be a problem with my HPM-70 earphones.

And I actually have another CHEAP regular earphone, and when I tried it on my W800i using the HPM-70 adaptor, it sounded much better (bass and everything).

um i dunno if you guys know or not and i'm not saying you didnt use them right, but a lot of people don't know how to properly wear 'in-ear headphones' so they get really crappy sound.

I'm assuming the HPM-70s come with 3 different sized ear pieces just like my sony EX-51s/71s. you have to pick the size that fits snuggly IN your ear canal.

**They do not sit like regular ear buds. You have to insert them into your ear canals. When you insert them correctly, you shouldn't be able to hear your surroundings very well. But you will be able to hear the music very well.

I only posted this because, generally when people say these things don't have bass and sound tinny, is because they are wearing them wrong. You will get the bass once they are snug inside your ear. Well, i guess yours could be broken too. I've heard they break pretty easily. I've been using mine for 6 months with no problems tho.

Thanks, Philasan.

I guess I am using them incorrectly. I really tried putting them in my ear like what you suggested, and I'm getting a good amount of bass (or too much?!). I didn't know they're supposed to be used this way, because I find it too uncomfortable to use them this way.

if your headset came with different sizes, I would try on a smaller size if you haven't done so already.

The thing with these in-ear headphones is, they're not for everyone. Not everyone is ok with wearing something in their ears. (similar situation to contact lenses) In my case, normal (apple ipod style) earbuds really hurt my ears after even 10 minutes of use and large headphones are too cumbersome for me, so I'm stuck with the in-ear type. My motto: if it doesn't fit in your pocket, then you shouldn't be bringing it with you.

If you have a choice, then I would just use whatever type headphones you normally like using since the HPM-70s can also connect to any normal 3.5mm headphones.

trick#2: if you find these ear-buds fall out too easily or feel like the slightest tug makes them uncomfortable... wrap the cord above and behind your ears. (like this)
