Hiya
my friend recently bought a phone of someone, however he has realised its been blocked, a few days later, by the network the phone was originally on. So basically he cannot use the phone, at all in the UK, only overseas, however thats not good, since he stays in the UK. Is it possible in any way to get the phone unblocked through any other means? If it is possible, how can he get this done??? The phone is the w800i.

Just do the right thing, leave the phone to the police.

I dont know anyway of getting a phone unblocked exept by changing the imei which is illegal.. Did the person he bought it from claim it was blocked? If not them get your mate to contact the him and get his money back.

my friend has tried contacting the person, however his mobile is now switched off. So he's been ripped off for good. don't know how much he payed for it though. cuz my friend won't tell. Could go to the police, but if they put a report into the police, i doubt they'l be able to get the networks to unblock the phone

If your friend goes to the police then they will probably be able to get the seller for fraud as he probably reported the phone as stolen to make an insurance claim. This way your friend might be able to get his money back.

Now that you mention it, i've seen quite a few UK mobiles for sale here (South Africa) recently. It seems that 3Network is the most-targeted too... I've seen at least 4 SE mobiles with 3branding for sale this week alone... Does 3 offer the best deals then? This message was posted from a Nokia

If you want to cut your losses, sell the phone on Ebay, either people abroad will buy it or someone in the UK or spare parts like the screen etc.

Unless you can get back in touch with the original seller, there isn't much you can do legally. Sounds like the phone was either stolen or the previous owner has pulled a fast one and reported it lost or stolen to claim on the insurance

When a deal looks too good to be true... it usually is!
