I thought I should post my experience with the Sony Ericsson Update Service incase it helps anyone else.

I incorrectly installed the USB drivers, letting Windows automatically install, rather than pointing to the ones from the SE website. I eventually remedied this situation by deleting all files with 'K750' in them from the System32 folder in Windows, where drivers are kept.

HOWEVER, the nonsense on the Sony Ericsson website about having to install the SEUS driver makes no sense. After correctly installing the USB drivers, turning the phone on holding C did not initiate the found new hardware wizard, making it IMPOSSIBLE to install the 9KB SEUS driver.

However I'm currently running the update service no probs without even having to install that extra driver listed on their site.

All in all, SEUS has some serious flaws, i.e. its very poorly implemented, hard for a non techie to use.

Tom.

EDIT: There was a communication error, my K750 is now dead.

Final result: f**k you Sony Ericsson, you've ruined my phone with your shit service.

That doesn't sound good!

Now you have me worried. I have yet to update my firmware. I also installed the USB drivers letting Windows select files (which I pointed to the PC suite CD). But I suspect that somthing is not correct. While all my connectivity seems to work, whenever I connect the phone to the USB, Windows still prompts me to look for new drivers, which I just cancel.

Any thoughts,or directions to how the USB drivers should be installed would be appreciated. Thanks.

Eric

That doesn't sound right Eric.

Windows shouldn't be prompting you for drivers everytime you connect the phone through the USB cable.

Instead of using the CD, download the USB driver and the Update Service driver from the SE website. Create a folder on your PC in a safe location on your PC. Unzip the USB and Update Service zip files to that folder.

Connect your phone to your PC through USB cable. You should get the New Hardware found dialogue 5x, keep directing it to that folder.

Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray to disconnect the phone. Then reboot your PC, and connect the phone again through the USB cable. Xp should not prompt you again with a New Hardware dialogue.

New update: I used the recovery service on the SEUS and it works again! Still not a great experience!

Same thing happened to me...
But the recovery mode didn't work either...

My phone is now dead (sent it to Service), and I was lent a 1998 Nokia...

What a shame...
