hi, long time reader, first time poster with a strange dilemma. I just picked up a k750i from a gentleman on the Howard Forums who didnt want the phone any more because it was simply too much phone for him. I got the phone last Monday, and used it quite a bit (mostly the camera, and put a few games on there).
But out of nowhere, yesterday, the phone started freaking out. At first, I couldnt get the phone out of keylock. I pressed the star, but when i went to press the unlock button, that little screen would pop up saying "phone is locked, please press * then unlock." So I popped open the battery and pulled it out and popped it back in. Then, the right and down areas of the joystick stopped working... and when I turned on my bluetooth headset, the phone started calling random people! It was as if the top left select button was jammed or something. I then figured, something's gotta be stuck underneath the button or something's up with the software, so i left it off for a few minutes, but nada. it would turn on fine, but just start freaking out after a few minutes... NOT right away mind you.
I found a topic on here about how to disassemble the phone if you wanted to put a new case, and used that to check if something was jammed underneath... nothing, i cleaned out out with a q-tip, but still nothing (although my case is nice and dust free!).
But lets cut to the chase here: I'm not sure what to do here. If I called up SEUS, would they be able to do anything for me? I have no problems sending it overseas if there's a problem, I've got a backup phone... I just wanna be able to use it. This is by far, the weirdest thing thats ever happened to me with a phone in over the 5 years I've owned cell phones.

Hmmm, try updating the firmware via the SE update service, see if that helps.
But first, just have a look at how much free memory you have, it may be that you've filled the phone up - many phones misbehave when the memory's full, you should generally leave yourself a Mb or two spare to avoid any problems

i tried the update last night, and it seemed to stop it... but after about five minutes, it started acting up again. Right before that, I did a master reset on the phone... but it didnt seem to do much. BTW, thanks for the quick reply

No probs. So there' plenty of free memory left on the phone? I haven't got the K750i, but if it's the same as the K700, if you go into 'File Manager', then click on the 'more' softkey, then on 'Memory Status' it'll tell you how much spare memory you've got.
If there's still plenty, you may be able to send it to a service centre or SE, as it will still be under warranty.

honestly, im just assuming that the guy wouldnt take it back. i havent gotten the chance to email him as i am at work right now. but once i get home from work (in about 5 hours), i plan on emailing him to at least find out when and where he got the phone from. im just hoping i dont have to send the phone overseas or something. i figure, if sony has updates for the phone on their american web site, they should be able to take repairs for it over here as well. once again guys, thanks for the responses!

taking it to a phone shop might not be a bad idea either. i might wind up having to take a trip into NYC, cuz I cant find anyone in NJ that sells the k750. I'll post later on how it went with calling tech support.
btw glenny, you're one of the few people who recognized my nick!

Although i very strongly doubt it, it sounds a helluva lot like the Skulls virus which infects Nokia symbian models. Does the same thing as yours... I suspect your firmware's messing around though, so a SE centre or phone shop may be able to help. Good luck bro
