Dudes wtf...
I did my exams and I passed everything except for land law, i failed by 1.3% and the Uni had a little note saying that I wont be accepted to continue law.
I hate this uni.
I'm working hard to see if I can do SOmETHING to help me. Hopefully they'll show a little heart.
Funny thing is, Land law is a subject my government back home DOESN'T require
*sighs*
I want to major in Contract law dammit. Screw the land.

Give em hell? But you FAILED... by 1.3% ar 130% it makes no difference mate, im sorry but why should they give you any special favours for failing? I know it sounds harsh, but if they just said "ah well, its not by much" and let you, and everyone else in a similar position, continue the course, what kind of mess could Land Law end up in, in a few years, full of "professionals" who coulldnt do the coursework? What if they did the same with doctors? Would you trust a doctor who hadnt made the grade?

well there are two reasons.
Land law is not what I want to specialize in, and my sponsor has officially made a statement that Land Law is of no relevance to the job that I am going to be taking up.
THe university has already said that if that was the case (since i"m not going to be practicing law in the UK and UK Land law is useless in my country)they will let me continue to the following year.
Additionally, only 6 Universities in England have this rigid rule.
Others allow you continue to the following year and not receive a certificate in the subject you failed OR you get the uni to let you repeat that subject only.
Hope that explains it.
(wish people would give me more credit around here rather than assuming I want to take the easy way out)
It's kind of like you wanting to study Psychology and you failed a test in Chemistry.

i disagree, i think if its the rules of the Uni then they should stick to them, maybe you could retake?

dude. if you say these are rules, then they should apply to everyone am I correct?
I wouldn't speak if they didn't, dont forget that is LAW I'm studying, so I'm swearing to uphold it and that means even the minute system.
In this uni, people can actually PAY to get to the next year, it's corruption all around.
(someone's bound to say "why dont YOU pay?" 1) no money 2) morally wrong)
One of the codes of every uni is to HELP a student when in need, and the rules are not rigid, it's only tough when they want it to be and flexible when the panel is in a good mood.
is it fair when you people are not judged equally?
one other point is, Solid what are you disagreeing with? I never mentioned anything about the rules. Unless you actually went to the website and read the law students rules and regulations then came and posted.
Did you totally just skim through the part where they said that I could go to second year if i provided proof and I did and then they retracted that offer? Fair? Rules? I dont see any fairness when you follow someones conditions and then they take back what they said.

My major is criminal procedural law. 9th semester ;-)
Sad to hear you failed in land... I never failed myself, but I was pretty close at enviromental... finished first and second in all other fields though :-)
Contract law? Good money in that field, but I think the action is in my field though ;-)
Good luck to you!
