The Sony Z7 is capable of playing more than one note at a time just like on a piano when you press two keys. The Ericsson T68 is not capable of this.

Does anyone kno if this will be possible in future software releases or is it impossible due to the hardware in the t68?

Interesting question. After all, aren't we all tired of the silly mono-tones so far? I do know that midi is supported in MMS. Question remains: is the T68 capable of producing more than 1 tone at the same time? IMHO: the migration to polyphonic ringtones is as dramatic as the migration to colour-screens...
Who has more inside info on this one?

Well, you will get Imelody in the next upgrade. That should be a bit more advanced than Emelody. Imelody should be much better.

The Alcatel 511 uses polyfonic ringtones.
According to what I've heard about this, its 4 layers of tones with different instruments, played at the same time.

I dont think a software upgrade will get us polyfonic ringtones/melodies.
I think its a bit more complicated than that

i think that the alcatel melodies suck big time because of its low volume and bad tone
it has a good ring to it but ....if you were in a small room with over than 3 people talking you cant hear it.....

Polyphonic ringtones require a speaker.

Most of the phones today only have buzzers hence cannot provide polyphonic ringtones.

Anyway, the major difference apart of the polyphonic part of course is that contrarily to buzzers, speakers are much less aggressive to the ears

I think for polyphonic ring tones you'd also need a proper sound processor for playback.

If the T68 had polyphonic ring tones.. it'll be the most feature packed phone ever!
