Yes, the number is assigned when the SIM is registered.
This allows you to 'upgrade' your old PAYG number onto a new SIM.
Once you have the number, just press the volume key (with keys unlocked) to see it!

yeah... just done mine, does anybody know if your FIRST free evening and weekend texts are put on to start with or if you have to to up £15 to get your FIRST free 3000
i know you have to top up to get them but i mean the FIRST ones as on o2 you get your first free 300 without topping up.
ohh... and you get a free pound when you top up on these new orange ones
