is it possible to check a different folder other than the inbox in imap servers using the phone's email client?

You should be able to with IMAP4, but I think the T68i client limits it to only the Inbox. Which is a shame, I guess it's Sony Ericsson's attempt to make things simpler and easier to manage on the phone.
