I know this doesn't help, or answer the question....

but my Chinese friend bought a brand new W800c in Hull, East Yorkshire, about 6 weeks ago.

She said she asked for the Chinese version and they got one for her quickly.... at Phones 4 U...

actually i wanted the phone to show english. i jus want additional chinese and input and the ability to view chinese texts. it seems that the w800i is able to show some chinese characters. so is it possible that it is actuall built in but somehow not activated?

i guess it's based on firmware. customization APAC_1 from China may have it.
