i have a p900 and til today everything was fine,but since lunchtime the phone keeps saying please insert sim card.i've spoke to orange who said take sim out and clean all connecters for sim and battery,which i did and still this probelm appears.
any help would be greatly welcome as this is the best phone i've ever had.

i didn't drop it jon.i've also done a master reset which worked for a couple of hours,but it's playing up again.

Could it be a fault with the sim card

I'm thinking that if it's not the contacts, then it leaves you with either a dodgy sim card or a software problem on the phone. In which case, A master reset might do it if it'll let you. Or failing that an update via SEUS, again if it'll let you

Sorry, but I can't think of anything else you could try yourself before taking it to a shop to be sent off for servicing

EDIT: You beat me to it! Looks like an update might be your last chance before a trip to the phone hospital then!

sim card is about 2 years old and my first thought was the sim may need replacing.

Orange sent me a new sim recently, saying my old one was out of date.
Might be worth calling Orange again and hoping that you get someone helpful.
