Bookmark topic
Please concerning Wifi, can somebody tell me what is the difference between a wireless access point & a wireless router? Plus to be able to make a wifi network @ home, which one do I need? I have both a dial-up connection & a broadband connection. Any advices on the brands? Thank you.

Wireless Access Point
=+=+=+=+=+=+
A wireless access point has the same features as an access point BUT it cannot be used as a direct gateway to the net......in simple terms...it is NOT a modem...it can be used to connect TO a modem, at the same time connecting all your wireless stuff together
Wireless Router
=+=+=+=+=+=+
Has the same features as an access point BUT this can be used as a modem at the same time as acting as an access point
buying an ROUTER depends on your isp and the type of broadband line u use e.g. a router for NTL/Telewest is not the same as a router for BT line services e.g. Wannado, Bt broadband ----- and then the killer ISP that only supports CERTAIN routers is (DRUM ROLL) AOL broadband!!! they can only have certain routers use their service so please explain what u got

Ok, now... i am gonna completley guess to be honest.
I have a Router, and Wirless adapter for my wireless network, this enables me to use internet wireless for my laptop in the house. And that's it.
Now if i wanted to say, have the laptop & pc share the printer, then i'd use the Access point aswell (It does the same job as the router.....and more). So i cud print "wirelessly" from the laptop.
Now i'm not really certain about this, and might be wrong.
This is just what i assume.

Now I have a dial-up connection but after 2 months I'll be using a broadband & I have 2 laptops & 2 pcs. So my question is what should I buy so I can use both dial-up & broadband on it & also to be able to connect all 4 computers @ the same time to the internet?
