Hi,

I had a SE P900, and backed it up just before it crashed on me.

I have purchased a replacement P910i, and was wondering, before I install the software that came with the P910i, and some more software I have obtained, do I need to uninstall the P900 software/ back-up and "My P900 that is on my desktop?

Thanks, would really appreciate some help

Hi, welcome to Esato!

I think I'm right when I say that the backup that you made of your P900 would never work with your P910 anyway - so basically, it won't work if you ever tried to restore it! The P910 uses a different file managemnt systems that is incompatable.

I think you can till use the P900 sync software, but Iwould remove it and replace it with the P910 softear - it will probably be anewer version and the icon on the desktop will say "My P910" no "My P900"!

Hope that helps
Jon

Thanks, Jon

And glad to be on the Esato Forums.

Your reply helps me further along.
However, I wasn't thinking of backing up the P900's info to the P910i; my concern was whether I could keep both software suites (the original P900 already loaded, and the P910i that I want to load, on the same PC and not have any conflicts or confusion when I try to sync either.

Or whether I must remove/uninstall the P900 software?

Thanks again

IIRC, you can save your old backup files from the P900, uninstall the old PC suite, install the new one for the P910, and copy the backup files back. Thatway you only have one software for both phones, and the backups will still be good for your P900.

Thanks for the recap; however, I wouldn't knoe how to copy the backup back ...

Could you walk me through?

I have the P900 backed up; I can uninstall the P900 suite, and I can install the new software suite that came with the P910i; where do i find the back-up for the P900, and how do I copy it back?

Please ...

somewhere, probably in the preferences or settings menu, there will be a file location. copy those files to somewhere you know (like my documents), and uninstall/install the software.

Alternatively, use windows search to find *p900* on your hard disk. That should point you in the right direction.

I would tell you, but I don't back up my phone (I like to live on the edge! )
