For the past month or so now my Orange branded P910i's keypad stopped functioning. There was no reason for this at all: no drops or damage to the phone. It firstly started to produce random digits for the buttons I was pressing (e.g. key 5 would bring up a 2 and the arrow button would produce a 4!) then a day or two later it completely stopped working. However... it still lights up and the QWERTY keypad functions perfectly still, even though it must surely use the same physical connection to the phone. I figured if the QWERTY pad is working then so should the numerical pad still function. Besides this problem my phone sometimes (not all the time) gives a "WRLDSVC could not execute" or something similar error on startup. All in all I guessed that all this was a firmware problem, and with a quick (!!) re-flash of the firmware all would be solved.
So I just finally found the time to set the online update service up to re-flash my firmware and I get a BIG response saying "your network operator does not allow the update of this phone"!!! F****king Orange! I knew getting a branded phone would be a curse!
So what do I do now? All I want is to update (or at least re-flash) my phone so it is 'fresh'. I'm Still on CDA 162006/5 and Organiser R3A04. Old school!
Please help me with this predicament as having no keypad is really starting to annoy me.
Thank you all kindly in advance.

I would bring it to a service center to flash with generic fw. or to Orange and have them upgrade the fw/

Hrm... was hoping to avoid all that. But that will obviously be my last resort.
I've just noticed the "Recovery mode" option on the update service pages so I'm trying that as we speak (type!).

When I try to use the Recovery Mode I receive a "Failure to communicate with the device" error. Typical. Tried a few times. Gonna knock it on the head now though.
Another further suggestions.....?

I have also got an Orange P900 now out of contract and the stylus mode has just packed up.I feel I would also like to reset it afresh to see if it works then. Also I would like to get rid of all the orange internet stuff clogging it up.
