I haven't seen the movie, can anybody tell me: Why the fuss about Tupac?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but he made a few B grade movies, a couple of rap songs that barely made a blip on the radar, then got killed in an East Coast/West Coast skirmish between gangs.
Suddenly his rap mates are promoting him as a Matyr. They buy the rights to Stings's 'Every Breath You Take' (a massively successful song in it's own right) and rework it as a tribute. They continue to sample Tupac's music and rerelease his movies as if he's some sort of 'misunderstood Superstar' who was before his time.
Good on them for looking after his family through royalties, sure.
But let's not get carried away. Had he not been involved in gang activity his family would have him around too, not just the royalties.
Is he really a good role model for teenagers? I think not. Perhaps it's time to let the 'legend' go.

The man sold millions of copies, acted in movies and generally raised mayhem because he was unconventional. Admittedly anybody not being from the same segment of society that he was from wouldn't understand what he was about. Unless you've been there it's a bit silly to judge. It's a lot like the status which Elvis achieved. Not everybody enjoyed his music, yet everybody knew who he was. It's quite simple really- Tupac certainly has become a legend because had he still been alive, i'm certain the face of rap would be vastly different to what it is now. Possibly we should read through his lyrics to understand what his message was.

@Kryptik
The comparison to Elvis doesn't stand up.
Elvis was a phenomenon during the '50s and '60s. He DID shape the course of music history and still is referred to as the King of Rock n Roll.
Tupac was never as successful as Elvis, far from it.
As far as rap music goes, Eminem is number one isn't he?
The legend of Tupac is bigger than the reality in my opinion.

Eminems good, ask him who the greatest rapper that ever lived is?
I listened to Tupac when he was alive, he was a legend then and still is, Some people just share the same taste in music, you like Iron maiden and all that metalica crap, I dont... I love Rnb and Rap, i also listen to rock these days.. coz its gettin more "soulful"
As for the elvis comparison id say he is to rap what elvis was to rock!!
I guess its where you from that would make the difference, the ozzie and poms wont know what Tupac was... Thats just the way it is in your country. - Nothing wrong with that.
You wont understand, you never will!
