my graphics card has suddenly started failing for no apparent reason. when doing something on my computer the screen will get small odd patches/lines of yellow and/or pink on it and the monitor will then turn off. I had this problem with my previous grpahics card (geforce 3 Ti 200) and i updated it to Geforce 4 ti 4400 only a few months ago and the problem has started again. does anybody know what this problem is and how to fix it? I have updated all drivers and doesnt work.

Also if i was too buy a new graphics card how do i know which ones are compatible with my computer? cheers guys please help me!!

well if it's the second card with da same problem, then theres obviously a fault with your motherboard-or the card's getting well over heated and frying itself.any overclocking?he not then change your motherboard! This message was posted from a WAP device

agp or pci if the computer is not that old try using the on board graphics slot. that way you will know that it is your card. most computers now have the on board graphics'

start with the easy things first. check the cable that connects the card to the monitor make sure its fully connected then give it a waggle whiles working making sure first and formost this isnt the problem.
next i would check if possible another monitor to see if thats the problem
if both of these fail then check that the card is in its agp slot correctly. if it is try getting a benchmark program that monitors temps in your system something like everset is free and has a sensor program to make sure the cards not getting to hot.if it is make sure the fan is working and spinning and the connector for the fan is plugged into the card.
it is quite an old card your using and given the price of modern decent cards ie 6600 gt might be worth an upgrade esp if you play games watch vids as you will see a big improvment

If all else fails, it might be a dodgy slot or even motherboard. If none of the above solves the problem, I would suggest you buy a graphics card that uses a different slot, i.e. If you've currently got an AGP card, get a PCI one and vice-versa.

If your PC doesn't have an AGP slot, try plugging your current card into a different PCI slot. Sounds daft, but it sometimes works!

Your PC's temperatures are perfectly normal, by the way, and the most reliable way to see if all of your fans are spinning is to get the side off and have a look.
