I dont know what GPS receiver to buy for my p910i. I have tomtom-mobile 5 software installed on my computer ready to upload to my new phone. But I currently do not own a GPS receiver & I dont know what is compatable with the software and the phone. Are there any preferences for GPS receiver to work with tomtom mobile 5 on the sony ericsson p910i????????

some of the GPS receivers work on all bluetooth and smartphones. So these receivers should also work with tomtom mobile 5 correct? & my p910i....

If not then I am open to suggestions!

But cheap ones are most of the time old ones and less good! A normal price for a good receiver is between 100 and 150 Euro.

where did you get the tomtom version for the p910i because when you get the package from tomtom a GPS unit is included

@coachdriver

If you have the software and no absolutly GPS receiver of any kind I would suggest you give the place where you bought it from and get them to send you a gps receiver.....

If it is a software you aquired from Trotters & Trotters inc then I am afraid you are unable to complain about having no gps receiver and should fork out for a Genuine package.

If you have a wired gps receiver with you tomtom mobile 5 and want a Bluetooth version you should be looking at some Website like www.pdamods.com

I recently upgraded my gps receiver from a wired version to BT... I got the tomtom BT receiver...

If your not looking to spend a lot of money forget the other gps receivers tomtom own is the way to go.... wilst others offer compatibility, some have issues pairing... Tomtom own gps receiver is the best option.

HAHA! do you actually think that he BOUGHT it! mmm, nope!

I have a Globestar GPS rx which i use with R66. It was just under £100 and is excellent. Shame you can't download hardware!

TomTom MOBILE 5 now uses a registration code system, as it can work with any GPS receiver. Originally it worked without any code, as it only worked with the TomTom supplied GPS receiver.

A word of warning; if for any reason you need to format your P910, you'll have to re-register. However, the code is tied to a unique number generated by the P910 - and it's not the IMEI. Format the device and you'll get a whole new ID and the original code won't work!

As you can probably guess, it's what happened to me.. but an email to TomTom did sort it out quite quickly.
