> K750 R1N + HBH-610 short term test
Bookmark topic
I just got my new HBH-610 BT headset (firmware R1B) from Hong Kong last week. Over the past few days I've tried to spend time testing it out to see if this is something worth keeping.
I have quite a few BT devices (K750 - personal phone, Z600 - work phone, HP Ipaq 4700 PDA and desktop with USB BT dongle) and the ability to use the headset on mutiple devices is rather important.
I have no compliants over sound quality or volume of the headset. The automatica volume adjustment feature is nice but it is not perfect. I find myself adjusting the volume once or twice so far but I doubt that'll bother most people.
One of the things that I noticed is, I can pair up to as many device as I want, but when I finished with one device and try to connect it to another, the headset will not connect. The only way to solve this is I have to hold the 2 volume buttons to put the headset to pairing mode, delete the paired item on the other phone for it to pair up properly again. Can somebody tell me if this applies to other SE BT headsets?
Battery life is suprisingly good. I've tried to leave it on for a few days (turn it off when I sleep) and used it for maybe 1-2 hours with my K750, Z600 and my PDA for Skype and the battery status is still 2 green lights (which means it's still in medium battery level). This gives me the impression that I'll only need to charge this on a weekly basis provided that I don't talk with it that often.
I had some trouble fitting it properly in my ears, I don't think I have big ears but it would definitely be nice if SE gives us options to purchase different size ear hooks. Given the amount of BT headsets they've made over the years, seems like they would've figured this out long time ago.
The headset did cut off on me once 5-10 minutes going into a conversation using K750. I had to grab the phone to my ear not knowing what was the message that came up on the phone (some sort of BT connection error). I assume this is a problem with the phone itself as I did not have any problem with the BT connection on Z600.
I'm really not liking the fact that I have to keep re-pairing the headset with all of my devices if I do want to use it with something else. Is this normal with other BT headsets?

Totally argee with you regarding the HBH-610. My main phone, a K750i with R1L firmware refuses to stay connected with the 610 headset for more than 5 minutes.
Don't buy a HBH-610 if you don't have the R1N firmware for a K750i.
And yes, I have noticed that the 610 has issues moving from one phone to another. All I get is "Bluetooth error" from the additional phones.
Personally, I think the HBH-608 is a better headset for use with a K750i. I've got one of those too, and it has only disconnected once in two weeks of connection. And it also works fine with my P910, T39, R520 and others without re-pairing.

Mine was FOC as I work with Bluetooth gismos. However, they're available on ebay for around 55 GBP inc shipping.

Hi,
I have a K750 with R1L and a HBH-610.
THe HBH-610 will not stay paired.
I too have to delete the pairing and repair.
I so much regret getting rid of my hbh-608 which worked perfectly.....

I guess my next question is, do I have to send the headset back to SE to get this problem fixed? Or can I take it to a repair shop and upgrade the firmware on the headset?

SE UK currently say that there is no problem with the K750i and the HBH-610 headset.
Yeah, right. 007 above has exactly the same problem as I've got with my R1L K750i. SE say that the R1N firmware fixes this problem...
Best thing to do first is to email SE customer support and see what they say.

The hbh-610 wouldn`t keep a connection with my W800i but since the firmware upgrade to R1N its been faultless

R1N on the W800i is different to R1N on the K750i.
Basically the W800i R1N is the T1Q055 firmware I tested at work about 4 weeks ago. Its better than the K750i version - which should be available at the start of next week I believe...

what are you smoking LOL
r1n035 k750 has been out for weeks
r1n035 w800 out for 3-4 days
although supposedly w800 better firmware it is only implementation of gui is whats better.
some ppl like my cousin put more value on plane mode and better looking media player on w800 and music button without headphones
and some like myself prefer k750 activity/multitasking menu to all extras on w800. just cant stand reading a book and/or playing game or else and a call comes in and not being able to resume.
so which is the better phone/firmware is highly subjective.
bluetooth implementation on both models is the same. same bugs on r1l and same fixes on r1n.
hbh-610 looking for a whitepaper to see issue regarding connecting to multiple devices.
maybe se assholles are reserving that feature for 610a(might be wrong bout last letter) the one that supposed to pair automattically with just yes or no without pairing procedure.
