i updated my phone to R1N035 for about a week
everything works fine and its been great
just now when i pressed the down key using the joystick, it doesnt work
the middle button seems to be inresponsive or simply doesnt work either
i tried using the keys in the service menu and they are fine
anyone experienced this with R1N035 firmware?

same thing happen here after R1N upgrade. press down and it tends to go downright instead. i'm not sure if it's really firmware problem or dust problem. i gave it a big blow onto the joystick and it seems to work. but before upgrading firmware, i dont see this problem.

i used just those air duster and gave a big fat shot right @ the joystick area
some dust came out, but still inresponsive; like out of 10 times pressing the down key, 1 - 2 times will work
man, guess this is another bug from the new firmware >.<

i've emailed SE and it seems to me that they dont answer my question

With regards to your inquiry, usually this problem are caused by
software issue or the hardware it self . If this problem persist you can try
do a update service at www.sonyericsson.com

I believe it is not the joystick. I think it is the slower file system in R1N035 causing such joystick unresponsive. After I upgraded to R1N035, the joystick became unresponsive. However, after I flashed it back to R1L firmware (with DVT), the joystick worked fine again.

Dont know if this is a related problem but a few weeks ago my joystick stopped functioning correctly, had to take my phone in for repair to send of to SE, got it back it works fine now.

Maybe the sames happened to you, never had any problems with latest version firmware

its definitely related to the firmware. alot of people wo upgraded to r1n035 (myself included) compained about this.
iirc it has to do with the stick now beeing 8 directional instead of 4directional

anyway, im sure itll get fixed in a future update, but for now, the advantages of better camera/videobitrate outweigh the joystick bug imo
