I'm now onto my 3rd set of Apple headphones, so i'm not going to buy another set anyway. The sound quality is okay, but the build quality is shocking. Can anyone recommend a decent quality, well built set of in-ear or ear-bud headphones?

At the moment i'm looking at the Sony Fontopia headphones which certainly look decent, anyone got any feedback they can give on these?

Lol i was going to recommend them, and then I saw that's what you looking for.

GET THEM... I was looking to spend £100 on a pair of earphones, and everyone recommended those even though they like £30.

Sound quality is great, and has MASSES of bass!

I have the exact ones in white, they're great, best earphones i've ever had!

Yeah, they certainly look the part form the reviews i've been reading. I'm definately going to check them out. I dont want to spend more than £30 so they really do look ideal. I've read a couple of reviews talking about the build quality, have you had any trouble?

Tbh mate it depends on how well you'd treat them, I treat most my stuff carefully, so they we're perfect. However recently i didn't take care of em, the wire got caught when i zipped up my top, and the wire split... but wierdly sealed up again.

And i left them in my car for a bit, and now the left earphone doesn't work.

So aslong as you take care of them, you'll be fine... i just neglected them abit ... but then i guess that goes for anything nowadays.

But the build is good, they feel strong, and are pretty water resistant, i mean i use my ipod ones in the rain and they go distorted... when i used these, rain had no affect.

You won't be disappointed mate.

I'm buying another pair 100%... took me a while to find a white pair to match my ipod, now im gona get a black nano/U2 colour, so i'll buy the standard black ones.

Ok cool, thanks for the tips mate. I think i'm going to get a set. I know what you mean about the Apple ones, my right headphone has distorted in all 3 sets i've had, i reckon its due to the rain too.

Yeah the problem SORT OF sorts itself out once they dry out... but then they can't handle anytracks with bass anyways so they pretty useless.

Check out www.ipodlounge.com

That's where i go for ipod stuffs

Thanks for the link. The trouble is, the Apple ones are very cool looking, i really like the look of them. But, they just aren't up tyo the job!

I've read a few reviews on these Sony ones, and quite a few people mention the coating fraying, or stripping, from the wire. Is it that bad?

I have had mine now for over 8 months and I can highly recommend these earphones. No fraying or anything with mine, and I think you will be impressed.

if you want a decent set of headphones that dont cost the earth have a look at the sennheiser mx500. they come in black or white and will blow anything around that price away. they are about £30 in the uk but if you shop around ive seen them on offer for £20
dont get the sony mdrex71 as they are crap , they dont track the sound well and the bass is very laggy on them.
if it has to be sony check out the mdred21lp these are better then the ex71 and cost £10 less
