1. Not all applications designed for the 6600 will work on the 6630 and the likes.
2.6600 uses a normal MMC while many of the newer Nokias use An Rs-MMC.
I think the 6630 uses an RS-MMC too.. so the MMC in a 6600 won't work on a 6630.

6680 and 6630 are using rs-mmc cards, the biggest card it accept is 256 mb. not to forget, that rs-mmc with the adapter can fits for example nokia 6230 aswell

But phones like the 6630 use DV-RSMMC cards.
Im not a Nokia expert, but im sure i read in a Nokia review that Dual Voltage RSMMC cards cannot be used in other devices unless it supports the DV.. ?

6600 uses MMC. 6630 uses DV RS-MMC or MMCmobile. DV RS-MMC and MMCmobile can be used on devices that use regular RS-MMC (or MMC, with an adapter), but not vice versa.
Regarding software compatibility, there are relatively few differences between Symbian 7 and 8. Mostly the difference will start showing up in the next phone releases, with the different screen sizes.
