Why sewerage manhole are round and not square?

that's cos only if they're round would it be impossible for the cover to drop through the hole. it's simple physics really. as long as the diameter of the cover is more than that of the hole, no matter how you orientate the cover, it'll never be able to drop through the hole. hope that answers your question. =)

I think round one takes less area & has better orientation as compare to square & Triangle.
