i just got the hpm-10 and the earphones are acting weird.....:

if the earphone jack is pushed in ALL teh way to teh mp3 player, the songs sound strange compared to on the computer. there is no bass, in some songs it is missing guitar parts, and in some songs there is no instruments but no vocals. when someone calls me, the microphone works fine, but i can barely hear them talking

if the earphone jack is unplugged just a little bit until it clicks, the mp3's sound perfect as they woudl on the computer, and when someone calls me i can hear them perfectly on the earphones, but the microphone does NOT work on the earphone device

whats wrong? is it the earphones? anyone else have this? if so where can i buy new earphones, maybe not ericsson brand but 2.5mm earphones with microphone built in, or headphones with mic built in?

I noticed something similar on my headphones also. I might be telling you something really obvious here. The the first couple of times I plugged the headphones in I thought I'd inserted them as far as they would go. I found that I had to force the headphones all the way in so that there is only a very small bit of the metal outer showing on the headphone plug (I assume this is the microphone connection and explains why the microphone is not working when you pull it out). I guess what Im saying is dont be afriad to really force the headphone plug into the player.

With the plug inserted I do get perfectly clear and gr8 sound out of the MP3. How are you recording your MP3s? What bit rate? If the MP3s are good elsewhere then I suspect there may be a fault with you mp3 player.
