Just a thought. Is it possible to 'defrag' the internal memory / external card? I ask this because i now have a 1GB card (mostly filled up), and want the fastest possible performance.
Is there a 3rd partp app that can do this?

you can use "diskcleaner" - an app available for the pxxx series.

I would say that if you make a full backup, master-reset and restore the full-backup, then you'll have your phone 100% restored and with the C disk defragmented.
I've tried it and worked. The phone became a bit faster, but otherwise I can't tell it it's really less fragmented or not.

There is absolutey nothing to be gained from "defragging" your memory card.
They do not having a moving disk head, they a media which can be read from just as quickly if a file is fragmented or not.
In fact most modern memory media these days will dump data all around the disk anyway to spread out the writes. This is so that not just the one memory segment is always being written to (remember that memory cards have a limited number of writes before they die, though it's a very high number these days)
All "defragmenting" your memory card does is move data around the card, wasting "disk writes" for no speed gain whatsoever. Even Sony themselves say
not to do this.
Apps like diskcleaner (which remove old unused files) are fine, but you might as well wave a dead cat near your memory stick for all the performance gains you won't get defragmenting it, not to mention shortening it's life.
This article (especially the bit about Write Endurance and how it writes are spread out) might be of interest as well.

muppet,
What you say makes sense, and it must be true, but my experience says otherwise.
Defragmenting memorysticks improves directory reading speed, although not by much, I admit.

I think that the "I defragged it now it's faster" is probably just a placebo effect.
I think if it really made a difference they would have come up with "memory defraggers" that defragged the ram in your PC, because by the same theory that would make your PC faster

I have a 512 mb card most of the times filled and I can't see any diff'rence in performance if it's 10% or 99% full.

Thanks for the feedback.
I thought that the principle of defragging would be the same on the P910 as it is on the PC, however I now see that is not the case.
I am a bit scared by what you say (Muppet) about 'the limited number of writes to the memorycard'. I wonder what this figure actually is?
