> Problem with imelody 'no sound' ringtone
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I'm trying to use an imelody ringtone I copied from this forum that
has no sound but just flashes the lights and vibrates. Some of you
have probably seen it before it's called Helicopter...
BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
NAME:Helicopter
COMPOSER:Opelgti -
http://www.supersej.dk
MELODY:(ledonbackonvibeonr5ledoffbackoffvibeoffr5@0)
END:IMELODY
I can upload it to the phone I can play it in My sounds and I can
select it for the Normal profile. But when the phone rings it plays
some kind of default ringtone that I cannot find anywhere on the
phone, it does not flash and it makes the default vibrate, not the one
defined by the imelody ringtone.
I have also tried creating a ringtone with the composer consisting of
only effects (leds on, backlight on and vibrate) and no sound and this
ringtone gave the same result I described above for the helicopter
ringtone.
I'm using a brand new T68i (R2E006).
What am I doing wrong? Or it there something wrong with my phone?

Did you set your settings>sounds and alerts>ring signals to the melody of your choice?

Yes,
every ringtone works fine except the Heartbeat

I've got the very same problem with the heartbeat ringtone. I've tried different combinations of silent alert, changing the volume etc to no avail.

I figured a way around the problem. I added a note to the ringtone. You can set the volume to 2, so that it's barely audible, but will still be interpreted as a proper ringtone. I think that the phone compensates for "silent" ringtones, by substituting that unknown tone.
try it out and see what you think.

Firstly...
Yes I have got the right settings in settings>sounds and alerts>ring signals.
Also as I stated, I can't get any ringtone to work that doesn't make a sound. I created one in the composer and this didn't work either and your statements here about the Heartbeat ringtone not working also seem to confirm this.
So it seems that there is a bug (or at least a difference in the firmware on my phone) in this area but from previous mails we can see that it does work for some people so I guess we should try and trace which versions of the firmware have this problem. Can everyone who has replied who has the problem please reply quoting the version of firmware they have. Mine is R2E006, as I stated before. You can get this from the settings menu using '> *
Maybe we need to contact SE about this if its a problem that's been introduced in newer versions of the firmware.
By the way does anyone know where the ringtone that is played instead of the silent ringtone comes from? I can't find it anywhere in the list of ringtones.

Thats a good idea. I had thought that it might be a software issue, and had thought about upgrading. Now seeing that it's happening with newer versions, that probably won't fix it for me. (the other problem of course is that the SE service centre in Ireland doesn't have the software!)
My version is: R2B025

Thanks for the tip Ro.
I got it to work now using a very short high pitch note at low volume as follows:
BEGIN:IMELODY
VERSION:1.2
FORMAT:CLASS1.0
NAME:Helicopter
COMPOSER:Opelgti -
http://www.supersej.dk
VOLUME:V10
MELODY:V1*7b5(ledonbackonvibeonr5ledoffbackoffvibeoffr5@0)
END:IMELODY
Thanks for all the help everyone!

I also have Prog.version R2E006
I think your on the right track about the phone compensating
the silent ringtone.
Strange though that you can't find the tone that's playing.
Great idea about the short note, thx
